Hawaii Legalizes Gay Marriage!
The Hawaii senate just passed a bill to legalize gay marriage today! Here is the link to the full story. I just thought that this was worth posting simply because it fits into our ongoing discussion of human rights. When I first saw this I didn't believe it because of how soon it was passed after Illinois. However, I'm very excited to know that gay rights are being recognized more and more each day!

I think it’s great that this piece of legislation in Hawaii was signed right after Illinois also signed a similar piece of legislation. Maybe this will spark a chain reaction in many other states due to all of the positive media that has surrounded these states signing a bill to legalize gay marriage. Though this is an obvious milestone, it is important to step back and see just how many states still prohibit gay marriage (Hawaii is only the 15th state in the US to pass this law). I sincerely hope that one day, gay marriage will be legal in every state!
